Definition
Designation for procedures and methods for the predominantly qualitative assessment of the performance and performance behavior of employees for the purpose of determining performance-related remuneration components. The aim is to record and document the performance and performance behavior of employees during the past appraisal period by comparing it with described appraisal (performance) characteristics and appraisal levels to which point values are assigned. Company-defined appraisal characteristics can be process-, product-, customer- or behavior-related. Assessment levels are used to differentiate performance results and the behavior demonstrated.
