Definition
Classic form of process organisation still in use, in which work systems are arranged according to processes (e.g. such as milling, turning, printing, testing, plotting). Characteristics: Adaptable to order fluctuations, equipment failure easily controllable, equipment utilisation dependent on order, order tracking more difficult, long order throughput times, increased transport effort and use of skilled personnel.
