Definition
Principle and form of process-oriented work organisation with and without timing (takt) and interlinking of the work systems involved. Characteristics: Arrangement of the work systems according to the order sequence in an object-oriented manner, balancing of their capacities (smoothing), short transport routes and throughput times, type division, clear order sequence, limited flexibility, sensitive to disruptions, multi-workstation organisation can be used with automated processes. If the work systems are directly coupled by conveyors, buffers are not required.
