Definition
Staffing is about determining how many employees with which qualifications are needed at which time and in which places to achieve the planned business objectives. For existing organisational units, this can be done on the basis of past experience. For new or changing organisational units, staffing is estimated or extrapolated. The work requirements, the working hours and the operation quantities are taken into account.
Especially in production companies, staffing is widely used because it is relatively easy to determine the staffing requirements on the basis of production planning and the agreed working and standard times. If the personnel requirements required in the long term are measured, this is also referred to as determining the job requirements.
