Definition
A term used in anthropometry (ergonomics) to designate so called percent ranks for the division of units into 100 equally sized parts (1%-units). Example: Ergonomic design aims to adapt the conditions in the work system to the user, for example to their body height. Since this quantity varies greatly, it is chosen in ergonomic standards such that body height of the 5th percentile and the 95ths percentile of the users to be deployed is considered.
