Definition
Term for a process in several stages of dividing work between and within companies; within companies e.g. into business areas, work systems, jobs or people according to specific requirements. Influential factors here are for example the company’s organisation, type, quantity and scope of work, its requirements for operating resources and personnel. Is done function or object oriented. Type division means dividing the work among several work systems in such a way that each performs only one part of the entire process. Requires specially equipped work systems. Quantity division means dividing the work among work systems in such a way that the entire process is carried out only on a partial quantity of the entire order. Requires work systems that are equipped universally.
